Thomas Allingham did something this year that we all do. He celebrated his birthday. This summer he turned eight. Thomas’ birthday party, however, had a generous twist to it.

His parents held a hockey-themed party for him and 16 boys were invited. Instead of handing out a wish list for gifts, Thomas asked only for a pack of hockey cards from each friend and a donation to the Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund. Through his generosity and selflessness, Thomas raised $175 for the Fund.

We were overwhelmed with this news when his Mom, Deborah, called. Ironically, the donation was presented to us on what would have been Adam’s 16th birthday. Suddenly a day we often mark with sadness turned into a most memorable one.

Thank you Thomas! Be proud of yourself and know that you will always have a special place in our hearts.

More Birthday Gifts

Birthday parties! Cake and ice cream. Balloons and presents. Isn't that what most kids think about when it comes to having a birthday party? Of course it is, but I would like to introduce to you Mr. Johnny Foley. The idea for his birthday party this summer came from an article his parents read on this website. 

Instead of receiving gifts for himself, Johnny asked for donations to the Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund. He raised a total of $175.00 for his efforts, and we would like to thank him profusely. It isn't every day you hear about this kind of selfless act, but it sure is heart warming.

Thank you Johnny for your kindness and thoughtfulness. I hope you understand that you have touched many hearts. Your actions have also helped other children play hockey. Remember that every time your blades hit the ice!
