Children’s birthday parties are typically about presents and cake with ice cream. Typically. But two young local boys decided that they would do something truly untypical for their 10^th birthdays. Because their birthdays are mere days apart, they had a combined party, and invited 20 of their friends to attend. Instead of asking for gifts, they asked for donations to the Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund.

For their efforts, Tyler Manderson and Bryson Durie, managed to collect $530. These boys should be proud to know that, because of their generosity, one or two children will be able to play hockey this upcoming season. This is such a thoughtful gesture for boys so young and selfless.

This is the FOURTH birthday party that has resulted in donations to the Fund! Thomas Allingham has held two parties and has donated $595 and Johnny Foley - $175.

Congratulations! Be proud of your accomplishments little men of Kemptville. You are an inspiration to us all.

More Birthday Gifts

Birthday parties! Cake and ice cream. Balloons and presents. Isn't that what most kids think about when it comes to having a birthday party? Of course it is, but I would like to introduce to you Mr. Johnny Foley. The idea for his birthday party this summer came from an article his parents read on this website. 

Instead of receiving gifts for himself, Johnny asked for donations to the Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund. He raised a total of $175.00 for his efforts, and we would like to thank him profusely. It isn't every day you hear about this kind of selfless act, but it sure is heart warming.

Thank you Johnny for your kindness and thoughtfulness. I hope you understand that you have touched many hearts. Your actions have also helped other children play hockey. Remember that every time your blades hit the ice!

The Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund held three fundraiser breakfasts over the March break during three KDMHA tournaments. Our greatest thanks go to Bill Osborne Chevrolet for the huge sponsorship during this fundraiser. Thanks also to the Bulk Barn, Giant Tiger and Re-Pete Promotions for their donations, which collectively helped to raise enough revenue to sponsor at least three children in the up-coming 2009-2010 hockey year.

Our deepest appreciation as well, to the Nepean Badgers, who graciously donated $100.00 even though the Fund does not benefit their area. A very warm and heartfelt thanks to each and every member of the team.

And of course the volunteers! Thanks to you all for your commitment and hard work. We couldn’t do this without your help.
