Growing Up
Adam
was born on June 30,
1991, and was raised just outside of Kemptville in a small bungalow on
the shores of the Rideau River with his Mom and Dad, brother and sister.
Living
along the water gave
Adam an insatiable appetite to explore the great outdoors. He would
watch relentlessly each morning in the spring for the otters to come
sliding along on their bellies on the crusted ice surface just before
spring thaw. That was also an indication that the beavers would also
soon be swimming along the retaining wall, just meters from the picture
window.
Yes,
living along the river with all its bugs and birds and
wildlife was, in Adam’s own words, "the best place in the world for a
kid to grow up in."

Fishing
was also a favorite sport. Quite often his parents would rise from bed
and see a huge note taped to the picture window that said"
– “Gone
fishing” –
He
never went far, always within sight of the house, and would almost
always come back with something that he thought would be
“perfect for breakfast”.

Canoeing,
paddle boating, sailing on the Ice Cream Float selling
“scream” on the river: Adam was full of outdoor adventure.

Adam's
Corner
To
commemorate Adam, South
Branch Elementary School has set aside a corner
of
the school library. This area contains books that
reference Adam’s two greatest passions: hockey and
nature.
We'd
like to express our continuing gratitude to the staff of South Branch
for their kind gesture.
Donations
can be made to Adam's Corner by contacting the school.

Passion for
Hockey

When he joined hockey in
1999 he seemd somwhat
detached from the rest of the
players. Being shy and a loner, he always sat by himself while getting
ready and seldom wanted to hang around after practices or games.
That whole scenario changed
in 2001 when Adam was
asked to be the team's only goaltender. His self esteem
bloomed.
He was full of encouragement and comaraderie from that point on.He was
prouder
of himself than we had ever seen before.
